The first thing I did was head to the dollar store for some supplies. I ended up getting two packages of peep chicks, a felt Easter basket, set of two styrofoam circles, and circular styrofoam insert thingy.
The next step was to drill a hole in the white styrofoam circle for a dowel to fit. I already had the dowels on hand but you can find them at most hardware stores and craft stores for really inexpensive. I didn't like the raw edge of the styrofoam so I covered it with white ribbon that I already had on hand.
I took one package of the peeps and separated them all. The other package I left together and laid them onto the styrofoam. Once I had them positioned right I glued them on with hot glue. I filled in the gaps with the separated peeps.
I took the basket and cut the handles off. I then took the extra white circle that came in the package and cut it into two pieces. Once that was done I filled the basket with the styrofoam. Originally
I was planning on leaving the dowel long but the weight of the peeps were too heavy. I cut off part of the dowel so that it wouldn't fall over. I also used some of the leftover styrofoam and made little supports so that it's more stable.
The last thing I did was added some Easter grass. I really love this
little peep tree! I'm also super excited to finally be able to decorate for spring! The total cost for this little craft ended up being $5 for the styrofoam, basket, and peeps.
