What We've Been Up To

There has been a lack of posts around here this week. That doesn't mean there has been a lack of things going on. Old Mac had a little vacation from work. We He decided it would be a good time to start on a project. We have been wanting to put in a door in our front room since we purchased our house 6 years ago. We haven't really made tons of improvements on our little house. The ones we have are making our lives sooo much better! Putting in this door will for sure be one of those things!! I can't take any credit for this little project other than helping pick things out. That's just as important right?! LOL It's not quite finished but in the meantime I will show you how it's looking so far. I'm LOVING it!!

Out With The Old. In With The New!

The old rug
My little house is in desperate need of some new carpet upstairs. Due to lack of funds, that won't be happening any time soon. Old Mac had the great idea of replacing our existing rug for a bigger and better one. We had a few things to pick up at Lowes so we decided to head over to the rug aisle. We spent what seemed like FOREVER finding a rug that we could both agree on. In the end Old Macs favorite was the winner. I'm a little worried about the light color with our two crazy kiddos. The only negative besides the light color is it doesn't match our furniture. Someday we want to replace our couches. We decided to get a rug we will like for the future and not just right now. I really love our new addition! It was a great problem solver to our carpet replacement issue!

Home Improvement/Confessions

I have a few confessions. The first one is we have lived in our house for five and half years. We haven't done much to the inside in the ways of home improvements. We have focused most of our attention to the outside that needed a little more done. In the meantime the inside has been neglected. There wasn't much that needed to be done but there were some small stuff. Small stuff like finishing the trim in our entryway. There are laminate floors in the entryway and the previous owners never finished nailing down the trim that goes around the floors. I'm embarrassed to say that we have had this trim in our garage since we bought our house. The hubs had a major itch this weekend and decided to finish up this little project.
Total cost - $0. We had the trim and the nails.
Total time - about 15 minutes.
The hubs not having a nagging wife asking to him to finish this little project - priceless

Before: Gross!!!

After: Much better

I'm sure some of you are thinking, "If you had the nails and trim why didn't you just nail it down? It couldn't be that difficult." This brings me to confession number deux. I'm pretty helpless when it comes to power tools and handy projects. I see some of these ladies in blog land that blow me away with their handy know how. I can use a screw driver, hammer, and stapler. If you need cuts, exact measurements, or something to be level I'm not the gal to call. I hate feeling so helpless in this area so I asked Old Mac to teach me a few things. That way I can do some of these small projects around here too. Wish me luck. I'm going to need it!!
